Slow Walking is a philosophy that offers walking tourism in a different and environmentally friendly way
We want to avoid the need to use places, destinations and monuments in a hurry. Our objective is to gain a deep knowledge of the place we are visiting by reading the landscape, chatting to the people we find along the way, staying in local businesses, eating local products and sharing their gastronomic culture.
With this philosophy, the services we include in our routes have been chosen to provide an added value to the trip and the traveller. Moreover, all the suppliers have been carefully chosen and are fully committed to preserving our environment.
This is a word that is perhaps overused nowadays and in many occasions even misused.
Our commitment with sustainability is essential, is part of
lives and in Slow Walking we never forget it.
We understand sustainability from three different approaches.
Our activity must have an influence on the local economies. Our products come from small producers, we stay in local businesses which are run by local people, and we contribute to the benefit of the rural environment.
We work for the maintenance of the cohesion, heritage and culture of the communities we visit. We work to enhance their customs, paths or ways of life in such a way that the visitor can appreciate these values and the community becomes aware of the importance of the details.
We manage our waste, reduce non-returnable package consumption and avoid, when possible, the use of non-renewable resources.
Our commitment with sustainability is an essential part of our life
Our customer’s hiking experience
Customer satisfaction is our main concern as well as the best guarantee for Slow Walking to keep on working.
We want our customers to be travellers not just tourists
Our aim is to extend the experience of our holiday, in which we invest so much time, money and wishful thinking. We don’t want it to finish at the end of our walk. We want to exceed the expectations of the experience and create a vivid memory of the good moments lived during our walk. We want our clients to recall their experience when they look at the pictures of the trip once at home.
We believe in originality, good work and customer’s astonished approbation
For us small gestures are important.
We think it is just fair that if we use apparently free resources such as the landscape, paths, water from fountains or the wind, we can also give voluntarily something for the benefit of the community, for instance repair and maintain the paths we walk on.
There are also hoteliers who give part of their turnover to different NGOs and charity associations.
Small gestures are important
Common features of all our trips…
We travel on foot.
A van carries the bags and heavy luggage.
All the routes have a strong focus on the nature and culture of the places visited.
A guide will always be available on a direct phone for any question when he or she does not walk with the group.
We always offer full-board. There is no need to look for a sandwich to survive. Around noon, the guide will prepare a light but tasty lunch to allow our travellers to go on walking in the afternoon. The lunch will take place at a previously indicated location, maybe at the Gate of a Roman Church, in little town’s indoor fronton or even in a little bar. We can then continue the walk without the need to worry about eating. .
There is always a support van available for those who do not wish to go on walking or want to get to the accommodation early or to transport spare clothes.
All the stages are designed so they can be reduced at the beginning or the end but always respecting the most interesting parts of them. .
We love small details. Your luggage will be waiting for you in your room when you get to your accommodation. You don’t need to drag your suit cases up and down just when you are dying for a good shower.
No more than necessary. No less. Our prices offer a quality holiday at reasonable prices. You will only pay for what you want to use. Our basic services are more than enough to cover all your needs, but if you are looking for a higher category accommodation or a tailor-made transfer, or perhaps a couple of days in a spa to round up your holiday you only have to ask for it.
